Hibaldstow Village Hall Committee receives £3,000 of funds to support residents with battery storage on their existing solar array.
Hibaldstow is a village in North Lincolnshire, England, located near Brigg. Hibaldstow Village Hall received £3,000 from The Northern Powergrid Foundation to add an additional 12kW battery storage to their existing solar energy system, enhancing the hall's energy resilience.
The challenges for Hibaldstow, North Lincolnshire, residents Due to the increasing energy costs and the need for reliable energy sources, the trustees of Hibaldstow Village Hall identified a need to enhance their energy resilience. The hall which acts a centre for activities including a toddler group, Zumba, Ringcraft dog training, 3 male football teams plus 1 under 9 junior team, The W.I. and A village pantomime group to name a few, was impacted following COVID and are doing all that they can to keep the hall hire fees low for their community to have somewhere to go and engage with each other.
The solution for Hibaldstow, North Lincolnshire, residents The trustees of Hibaldstow Village Hall determined that increasing their battery storage capacity was the best solution to ensure the hall could remain operational, offering hall hires and serving as a warm hub for the community during times of energy shortages.
Colin Mawdsley, Village Hall Secretary says ‘’Our previous battery storage was significantly limiting the village hall. With the £3,000 grant from The Northern Powergrid Foundation, we now have double the storage capacity, enabling the hall to operate even during emergencies and continue serving our community."
Future initiatives- The committee is now looking into other alternative solutions, including wind turbines, to further increase their energy resilience and support net zero initiatives.
Support from the Northern Powergrid Foundation The Northern Powergrid Foundation supported the community project with a £3,000 donation to fund the purchase of four 2.9kW cube batteries, enhancing the hall's energy storage capacity.
