Hexhamshire Parish Council receives £17,485.28 to support the residents of Whitley Chapel, Northumberland, through the development of a community crisis hub.

 

Whitley Chapel Parish Hall has received funds for the creation of a warm space for Whitley Chapel residents and those nearby with the addition of a generator and funds to purchase resilience supplies to protect the local community during emergency disruption to power supplies.

 

Jonny White, Hexhamshire and District Council Parish Clerk said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support from The Northern Powergrid Foundation. The funding will enable the opportunity to provide a safe, secure and resilience place within our hamlet and parish area, which will serve us well in the event of an emergency.”

The challenges for Whitley Chapel, Northumberland, residents

Due to the possibility of future power interruptions in the remote and rural community of Whitley Chapel the parish council identified a need to increase their energy resilience.

The parish council identified a need for a generator to allow the parish hall to be open for the local community to safely reside during times of power interruptions. 

 

Support from the Northern Powergrid Foundation

The Northern Powergrid Foundation supported the community project with a £17,485.28 donation to go towards a generator.
