
Pittington Community Association receives £20,000 for it to become a crisis hub to support its residents of Pittington, Durham.
The Northern Powergrid Foundation has supported Pittington Village Hall with the funds to install solar panels, battery storage and and electric vehicles (EV) chargers.
The community project will have a major impact on the long term sustainability of the village hall through the reduction of energy costs and the introduction of an additional income stream with the EV chargers. This improvement in the financial situation of the hall will give an ongoing benefit to the local community and all those that use the hall.

Due to the possibility of future power interruptions at Pittington and the impact they would have on the essential services offered to the local community from the village hall the trustees identified a need to increase their energy resilience.

The trustees identified a need for solar panels and batteries to allow the village hall to remain open for the local community to safely reside during times of power interruptions.

The Northern Powergrid Foundation supported the community project with a £20,000 donation to go towards solar panels and battery storage.
