
Mid Teesdale Project Partnership receives £1,200 to procure resilience equipment to support its residents in Romaldkirk, Teesdale.
The project in Romaldkirk, Teesdale, has enabled a group of volunteers to be in a position to come together and provide first line help in the face of an emergency or severe disruptive event to residents in the rural village of Romaldkirk. Members of the group will be the first wave of help prior to the arrival of emergency services or the restoration of power or provision of temporary power supplies.
The financial support from the Foundation has enabled the purchase of equipment to provide first line assistance to all members of this rural village in the face of an emergency or severe disruptive event. The kit will enable local residents to be warmer and more live more comfortably due to the provision of gloves, foil blankets, torches, etc.
Representatives of the community said, “The generous grant transposed into first aid kits, space blankets, lamps, camping supplies, and long lasting emergency food supplies. Perversely, it is hoped that the items will remain un needed but if required, we can aid the comfort and possible survival of our most vulnerable residents in a crisis” and another said “Romaldkirk Emergency Support Team (REST) has pulled the community together to provide an essential resource of emergency, practical and survival equipment which can be rolled out immediately from a variety of locations within the village. With a dedicated nucleus of volunteers, we are prepared for a range of emergencies and can respond immediately and effectively”

With the need to restore power temporarily members of the community identified a need for a continuous power supply and a volunteer group to provide first line support to those who need it the most.

Northern Powergrid Foundation supported the community project with a £1,200 donation to go towards equipment that will keep residents warm and lit.
